Program Notes

Stirring Ashes & Stars composed as a meditation on how the unchangeable past and the not-yet-formed future collide in the single moment that is the present. Throughout the piece, the contrasting musical material and orchestral textures that represent memory (ashes) and dreams for the future (stars), begin to juxtapose against one another. They mix throughout the stormy middle section, before becoming one identity at the moment of epiphany that brings the piece to its close.
